General Patton WIP

This is General S. Patton riding a Lipizzan, commissioned by ~Carpartart This is what I have so far and want some advice. I would appreciate some help with this, espeacially with the anatomy (mostly of the person, I have been trying to practice humans, but don't have very much freetime) and with the horse tack.
The two legs that are cut off won't be in the final picture. I currently don't have a background yet and a white background would make the horse blend-in too much so I had to make it a PNG...
